Come by Bart’s tomorrow morning, Friday June 3d to hear some live music performed in our open air courtyard! Michael J.Ward-Bergman is going to be performing in our shop as part of his gig365 project, an attempt to travel the states, playing a show in a different location every day.
Should be interesting.
Poetry slam was fun last night, thanks to everyone for coming out to the secondary location, our lovely host Leslie’s house. It’s raining today, so if you ever wondered what we do as an outdoor bookstore when it rains, come in and check it out. We’ve spent a fair amount of time since the rain started today with The Great Gatsby game.
Due to the fact that our store is outdoors, the poetry slam will be moved tomorrow in the event of rain. The new location will be 403 N. Ventura St., right around the corner from Bart’s. A link to directions can be found here. We look forward to seeing you all there!
Part Open Mic, Part Poetry Slam: Join established and widely published New England poet Laura Jehn Menides, and her daughter, award-winning Los Angeles Slam Poet Georgia Menides at Ojai’s first ever East VS West Open Mic. A battle of writers from the east coast against writers from the west coast … one team will win all the donations in the hat box as well as a special gift from Laura and Georgia, who are releasing their mother/daughter poetry book, Of Daughters and Grasshoppers. Whether you want to comete, be a judge, or just scream “you rock” from the audience, this event is not to be missed.
